Collaboration with Deaf Rave
Today we’re announcing a new collaboration with Deaf Rave on The House Party by Laura Lomas, an adaptation of August Strindberg’s ‘Miss Julie’.
This radical adaptation of Strindberg’s classic play co-produced with Chichester Festival Theatres and in association with Frantic Assembly is an immersive production with explosive and evocative movement underscored by a dynamic sound design.
In an effort to extend this invitation to d/Deaf and non-hearing audiences, we have partnered with the visionary Deaf Rave to present three enhanced access performances, 17 & 18 May 2024, where d/Deaf audiences can access the vibrant world of The House Party.
Deaf Rave will provide Woojer vests allowing patrons to immerse themselves in the pulsating energy of the performance, delivering epic bass-in-the-face beats and visceral sensations that bring the story to life. Powered by potent haptics (discs in the vests that provide vibrations!), these vests transport you to the heart of the action, amplifying every moment of the production as the character of Julie concocts a twisted cocktail of privilege, desire and destruction.
We’re proud to announce this partnership, cementing our commitment to innovative and accessible theatre experiences.
Deaf Rave was founded by Troi Lee, Deaf DJ and performer, Deaf Rave hosts raves and online showcases featuring sign songs, dance, comedy, and more for Deaf communities worldwide. Providing workshops in Event Management, DJing, VJing, and BSL, they've worked globally, embodying inclusivity and breaking barriers in the arts.
