Moi tran

Moi Tran is a multi-disciplinary artist, designer and educator; her art practice explores the intersection between contemporary art and live performance through theatre, text, sound, installation, and video.

Born in Vietnam, her recent works examine theorisations on emotional reckoning as valued knowledge, encounters of witnessing in events of fugitive performativity and the politics of sound as critical record.

She has presented and performed her work nationally and internationally, including ‘Civic Sound Archive’ (PEER UK); Sign Chorus National Archives (Da Nang, Vietnam); ‘Sonic Signalling in Reverse’ (GIBCA Sweden)'; ‘The Bolero Effect’ (VCCA Hanoi, Vietnam); ‘The Circuit’ (Prague Quadrennial Festival, Czech Republic); ‘I love a broad margin to my life’ (Yeo Workshop, Singapore); ‘Shy God – A Chorus’ (SPILL International Festival UK); and ‘SLEEP’ (Live Art Development Agency UK).

Her work is held in Mark Rothko Centre (Latvia); Elsewhere, The Living Museum (North Carolina); The Gotham West group (New York City); Underline Gallery (New York City)

In design for performance, she works as scenographer and costume designer in Theatre, Film, Dance, Opera, her recent and upcoming works include with Rambert, Hampstead Theatre, The Royal Court, Young Vic, The Globe, Manchester Exchange, Barbican.

Moi is a Trustee at HCCS, a community centre supporting people of ESEA heritage and founder of ESEA Project Space formerly EATC.

She holds a Master’s in Fine Art, Chelsea College of Art, Bachelor of Arts, Winchester Art School and trained at Motley Design School.
