Iskandar إسكندر R. Sharazuddin

Iskandar إسكندر R. Sharazuddin is a British-Bruneian theatre-maker, movement practitioner, and educator working in communities and new writing. He works as an outreach and community arts consultant and has previously developed bespoke creative learning & participatory projects with organisations such as the BBC Proms, the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, and with local authorities exploring the intersection between health & wellbeing and cultural activity.

He developed a digital creative learning project for Key Stage 4 & 5 students called, And Still I Rise connecting with young people across the London Borough of Newham during 2020. In 2019 he ran a youth theatre project with young people about the perceptions on blackness and young people culminating in co-authoring a new play, What Is…? He teaches in secondary schools and higher education as a visiting creative practitioner and is a lecturer at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Arts Educational Schools London.

Since 2010 he has jointly led Ellandar Productions, focusing on theatre about a British East and Southeast Asian lived experience, female-led narratives, and diverse British Muslim narratives. He is a previous recipient of the Soho Theatre Tony Craze Playwriting Award and works as a freelance playwright-dramaturg.
