Headlong Origins is aimed at celebrating, supporting and diversifying our pool of artists and theatre makers across the UK, outside London.
The scheme will nurture emerging talent from all corners of the UK, as the six directors that have been chosen embark on a year long program of activity. They will work closely with Headlong's producing and creative team, receiving mentorship from the artistic team. They will join Headlong's R&D sessions, workshops and engage with rehearsal processes, as well as see work from regional theatres across the UK, whilst developing their own work and artistic vision.
The Headlong Origins Directors for 2019 - 2020 are Maria Crocker, Nyasha Gudo, Alix Harris, Fionnuala Kennedy, Maisie Newman and Ellie Taylor. You can read more on all the Origins Directors below.
Recruitment for Headlong Origins 2020-21 is currently underway. The panel for shortlisting is Holly Race Roughan (Associate Artistic Director at Headlong), Rob Watt (Outreach Associate at Headlong), Maria Crocker (current Origins artist), Matilda Ibini (writer) and Daniel Bailey (Associate Director at Bush Theatre). Interviews will be held in the week commencing 7 September and will be with Holly Race Roughan and Daniel Bailey.
