Tassos first got involved with what was to become Coney in 2004 when he answered a ringing phone passed him by a stranger. He coined the name Coney as a front in 2006. For a long time a runner and then co-director of Coney with Tom Bowtell, Gary Campbell, and Annette Mees, he’s now the (artistic) director and runner (aka joint chief executive) with Becki Haines. He’s spoken at events including SXSW, British Council Connected, RSA State Of The Arts, Tipping Point, and In Battalions, consulted for clients including Imperial War Museum, ITV, and Penguin, and regularly mentors other artists. Prior to Coney, he did a doctorate in Psychology, won the inaugural James Menzies-Kitchin Award for theatre directors, did the NT Studio Directors Course, ran the Lion & Unicorn Pub Theatre and ROAR as a platform to support new artists and new work on the London fringe, and also worked as a critic, a teacher, many flavours of researcher, a salesman, and a chef.
