HEADLONG ANNOUNCES ANNE MARIE DUFF IN COMMON AND NEW YORK TRANSFER OF PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS WITH DENISE GOUGH ALONGSIDE A MUCH ANTICIPATED UK TOUR OF THE SHOW WITH A NEW CAST

  • Jeremy Herrin directs Anne-Marie Duff in DC Moore's Common
  • People, Places & Things transfers to New York and tours UK this Autumn

Headlong is delighted to announce a coproduction with the National Theatre of DC Moore’s stunning new play, Common and Duncan Macmillan’s People, Places and Things transfers to New York with Denise Gough alongside a major UK tour with a new cast.

Artistic Director Jeremy Herrin said I’m so happy to be continuing Headlong’s relationship with the NT. These two plays entertain and engage by asking intense questions about who we are, and both do so with an emotional rigour and a bold theatricality that I hope will thrill and move audiences. They are also wonderful opportunities to see some of our best actresses at the peak of their powers. I can’t wait to work with the peerless Anne-Marie Duff; and of course I’m thrilled that Denise Gough will share her legendary performance with audiences at St Ann’s; and I’m looking forward to finding a new collaborator to play Emma on the People, Places and Things UK tour. I’m delighted that more people will see Duncan Macmillan’s brilliant play on both sides of the Atlantic. DC Moore’s play Common is beautifully written and ambitious in both scale and theme, bringing the events of the past to rude life in order to understand the present in a show that I hope will showcase the best of the Headlong and NT partnership.

COMMON

By DC Moore

Directed by Jeremy Herrin

Designed by Richard Hudson with lighting by Paule Constable with music by Stephen Warbeck and sound design by Ian Dickinson

Previews from Tuesday 30 May

PRESS NIGHT: TUESDAY 6 June AT 7PM

1809. A bad harvest is coming. The crows circle over-head.

Mary’s the best liar, rogue, thief and faker in this whole septic isle. And now she’s back.

As the factory smoke of the industrial revolution belches out from the cities Mary is swept up in the battle of her former home. The common land, belonging to all, is disappearing.

D C Moore’s dark and funny new play is an epic tale of unsavoury action and England’s lost land.

Jeremy Herrin directs Anne-Marie Duff as Mary.
