Full casting has been announced for a sharp new version of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and her Children, a dynamic co-production between Headlong and the Royal Exchange Theatre. Julie Hesmondhalgh returns to the stage in this iconic title role and will be joined by a powerful team of actors including Rose Ayling-Ellis, Simeon Blake-Hall, Hedydd Dylan, Conor Glean, Colm Gormley, Kevin McMonagle, Tachia Newall, Nick Pynn and Guy Rhys.
Headlong Associate Director Amy Hodge directs this new adaptation by Anna Jordan. In a feast of theatrical storytelling Mother Courage and her Children exposes the absurdity of political conflict and the all-encompassing world of war. This unashamedly-relevant and bold production of a classic 20th Century play is brought bang-up to date and runs at Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre from 8 February – 2 March.
The creative team is completed by Designer Jo Scotcher, Lighting Designer Lizzie Powell Sound Designer Carolyn Downing, Movement Director Raquel Meseguer, and Assistant Director Nickie Miles-Wildin.
