Closing Date: June 24, 2019
Headlong is a theatre company with a big imagination, and touring is at the heart of what we do. Our purpose is to create a highly-engaged contemporary programme of new work, classics and 20th century revivals, and take these bold and exhilarating shows around the UK and beyond.
Over the past 4 years, over a million people have seen our productions. In this time we’ve had thousands of performances at over 50 theatres around the world. Some of these shows have won awards and transferred to the West End, including People, Places & Things, The Nether, 1984, This House and Labour of Love. We commission as many new plays and adaptations as any theatre company in the country. We’ve created Headlong Futures, which unites communities across the UK through theatre and Headlong Origins, a unique development programme for artists outside of London. Our industry-leading digital and film productions have also reached millions and have the potential for even greater reach.
This year has seen our Artistic Director Jeremy Herrin direct All My Sons starring Sally Field and Bill Pullman to huge acclaim at London’s Old Vic Theatre, and in September Haydn Gwynn stars in Hedda Tesman at Chichester Festival Theatre and the Lowry, Salford in a new play by Cordelia Lynn and directed by Headlong’s Associate Artistic Director Holly Race Roughan. We have also recently announced a long-term partnership with the Lyric Hammersmith to develop large-scale work by female playwrights, for production at the Lyric and on tour.
In order to support the company while it’s producing this ever-expanding body of work, we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Marketing and Press Manager. The main purpose of this new role is to drive our marketing strategy and deliver marketing campaigns, working alongside our partners and co-producers to meet ticket sales targets and expand our audience development schemes.
You will work closely with our Press Agency, ensuring that Headlong’s brand and vision are represented throughout all communications platforms.
The Marketing and Press Manager will be an experienced marketing professional with exceptional organisational skills and a team player. You will have a clear understanding of arts marketing campaigns, developing audiences and building relationships with external partners.
At Headlong, we believe that having a team from a wide range of backgrounds makes for a more dynamic company. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and circumstances.
